What is Ozone Therapy?

It is the application of the mixture of oxygen (O2) and ozone (O3) produced by the medical ozone device to the patient’s body.

White blood cells (white blood cells) are one of the most important parts of the immune system; They help the body fight infections such as viruses, bacteria, and germs. With the application of ozone therapy, the number of white blood cells in the body is increased, and the patient’s quality of life is increased by strengthening the immune system in a safe and natural way.

Among the benefits of this treatment result, metabolic enzyme and hormone balance in the body is ensured, the antioxidant system is strengthened, the blood circulation in the body is regulated by increasing the amount of intracellular oxygen. Apart from these, it also has analgesic, tissue strengthening and detox effects.

Madrid Declaration on Ozone Therapy

This Declaration; Approved by the Spanish Society of Ozone Therapy Medical Professionals (AEPROMO) at the “International Meeting of Ozone Therapy Schools (ecocols)” held at the Royal Academy of Medicine in Madrid on 3-4 June 2010.

After the discovery of ozone by Christian Friedrich Schönbein in 1840, its medicinal use increased in different parts of the world; healthcare professionals are more interested in how Ozone works and what its benefits are; Considering the fact that the number of ozone therapists continues to increase all over the world and that more and more patients benefit from this treatment, it is not easy to be accepted by everyone, there is still resistance within the medical community, and it will require more and coordinated efforts to become functional in the legal field. It was agreed that it should be taken.

It was agreed that it should be taken.

It was reminded that preclinical research and clinical studies on the use of ozone therapy were carried out with serious scientific care in Cuba, Germany, Italy, Russia and other countries, and results were obtained supporting its use in different medical protocols.

It was emphasized that it should be kept in mind that the harmless nature of this medical treatment, which makes it possible to use it in a very wide dose range, and the benefit provided by preclinical studies as well as genotoxic, toxicology and clinical studies.

It is noted that progress has been made in research and clinical experience with medical ozone despite several obstacles, which has become an almost permanent challenge for the Ozone Therapy Community and its researchers, mainly due to the lack of financial support needed to sustain the necessary medical research.

It has been stated that it is absolutely necessary for all ozone therapists operating in the world to be organized, plan activities together, and work towards special goals in order to carry the ozone therapy practice forward in a correct and safe way.

Considering that there are differences that medical circles want to standardize and that progress has already been made; It has been recognized that the development of good clinical practice guidelines as well as medical definitions of procedures and protocols that identify best practices where necessary to effectively circumvent the possibility of malpractice has been recognized.

Ozone therapy applications were first legalized in the world in 2007 by the Federal Services Public Health Control and Social Development Administration in Russia. Legalization in 2009 by the Ministry of Public Health in Cuba, in Spain by the Autonomous Societies of the Baleric Islands and Canary Islands (2007), Madrid (2009) and Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León (2010), Lombardy in Italy The significant progress towards ozone therapy was made by the Regions (2003), Emilia-Romagna (2007) and Marche (2009) and favorable judgments (1996 and 2003) by the Lazio Administrative Court were welcomed.

The speakers at the “International Meeting of Ozone Therapy Schools” as well as the ozone therapy associations present at the same meeting accepted the following conclusions.

RESULTS

First: To approve the “Therapeutic Limits for the Use of Ozone” detailed in the “Recommendations” section of this Declaration.

Second: To increase the exchange of information, research and experiences, both positive and negative, occurring in the field of ozone therapy, in the continuation of the increase in knowledge about the great benefits this treatment has, and to encourage the publication of research results in specialized medical journals.

Third: Encourage health researchers to increase their creative efforts so that ozone therapy continues to demonstrate its therapeutic benefits effectively and safely in the context of the development of controlled clinical trials.

Fourth: To encourage the creation of Standard Practices for good clinical practice for each method, taking into account new developments and with the view to increase quality and create homogeneous treatments in different fields.

Fifth: To demonstrate systematic efforts to encourage and encourage research that will increase our knowledge of ozone therapy, by sharing findings and objectives, and ensuring that every scientific congress/meeting to be organized accepts results that reflect the progress made and set successful and achievable goals. To work towards harmonization and uniformization of criteria at international level among different scientific communities.

Sixth: Encourage different communities in countries where ozone therapy has not yet been legalized to legalize the process in order to properly legalize ozone therapy and enjoy the satisfaction of the legal situation.

Seventh: Encouraging the preparation of textbooks, the organization of theoretical courses and practical training on ozone therapy, and thus enabling those who practice this treatment to work on a solid knowledge base, thereby laying the groundwork for reflecting a more effective and more beneficial health care service to patients.
